Listening Post

Listening Post:

The term “listening post” has a few different meanings:

In the context of signals, a listening post is a place where an attacker listens for signals. The attacker might monitor the signals, record them, or retransmit them somewhere else for additional processing.

In the context of cybersecurity, a listening post is an attacker-controlled server that communicates with the attacker’s malware. These communications allow the attacker to control the malware and receive data from infected systems. Listening posts can also be called “command and control servers.”
